Shall Not Be Denied - First Baptist

  • Seattle First Baptist Church 1111 Harvard Avenue Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

“Seattle Pro Musica shows off its massive singing chops… and the execution confirms the group’s status, under music director Karen P. Thomas, at the cutting edge of choral performance in the West.”

— Stephen Hegg, Crosscut

Rescheduled from the 2019–2020 season, Shall not be denied marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment with a celebration of the music written by American women during the past century. Ranging from mid-century pieces by Alice Parker and Undine S. Moore to works written in the past decade by young composers such as Caroline Shaw and Reena Esmail, Shall not be denied explores the variety of women’s voices in the realm of choral music.

Join us for a performance that honors those who fought for women’s right to vote, even as the struggle continues to ensure this right for all American women.
